5 Tips to Burn Fat

 

To drop weight and fat we need to see what's up with our metabolism, and unfortunately many of us are wrecking it by trying to lose weight quickly and eating foods that are harming it. 

Here are 3 mistakes we may be making and some tips to set us up for success.

Mistake #1 - Focusing on Calories instead of Hormones

The calorie model is outdated but still so many peeps are counting calories.

What is more important is to pay attention to the foods you are eating and how they affect your hormones which will determine whether you store or release fat.

Tip #1 >> Stabilize your blood sugars by choosing whole food carbohydrates and adding in healthy proteins and fats. This will help to balance your blood sugars, keep insulin levels down and improve your ability to burn fat.

Tip #2 >> Reduce your Toxic Load. Poor fat metabolism is the accumulation of toxins in the body.

What you put on your skin, hair, nails, what you drink from and clean your house with are all common culprits.

The great thing about skin care, hair care and cleaning products is that you run out, so ditch and switch to safer products.

I clean my house mostly with vinegar or thieves and I use Beautycounter for my skin and hair care. 

 

 



Mistake #2 - Missing out on Micronutrients

Carbs, fats and proteins are only part of our food.

There are 100,000's of micronutrients (vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, enzymes, fatty acids etc).  that our bodies need daily to preform optimally.

Micronutrients are used every minute of every day to keep us energized, produce enzymes & hormones and prevent deficiencies which can result in mental impairment, poor digestion, thyroid issues, bone loss, aging, poor metabolism etc.

Tip #1 >> Eat the rainbow each and every day. We typically eat the same 5, so mix it up. Here is what I added to my day to boost my micronutrients!!

Tip #2 >> Eat mineral rich foods which include sea vegetables, wild-caught fish, bone broth and leafy greens. 

Without adequate mineral intake the body will not be equipped for proper energy production, building the blood, bone formation, maintaining, optimal hormone levels, and a lot more.

 

 



Mistake #3: Consuming too Many Anti-Nutrients

These foods are literally sucking the life out of us!!!  And they are lining the grocery shelves more and more each day.

And the issue is that they are producing so much inflammation that this is causing havoc on our health - and when we are inflammed the body will resist long term weight loss.

Anti-nutrients include toxins (artificial colourings/sweeteners, pesticides, anti-biotics,etc), sugar, etc. 

Tip #1 >> Limit your exposure to anti-nutrients. Swap out the processed foods for whole foods.

Choose organic when possible - and don't worry about this one until you start getting the processed foods out of your diet.

Get rid of processed vegetable oils and take omegas as our bodies do not make them, see what I use here.
